Out of Hospital

Monday 22nd Apr 2024

Back home from hospital. I can’t praise the Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Ward Staff enough. I feel we are so lucky to have the NHS.

Anyway, back home (for a bit) and slowly on the mend surrounded by family and friends. Hoping to get back to work shortly before the next surgical procedure mid May.

In the meantime, happily raising sponsorship and making contact with other riders doing the DGR.

Should be able to get back on the bike in a couple of days……. The best therapy of all!

Thank you for reading this blog, and if you are able to sponsor me please feel free, if not please spread the word about this amazing event and help promote awareness of Prostrate Cancer and Mental Health to a greater audience.

If you are struggling, or know someone who is, please talk to somebody about it. Encourage family, friends, loved ones, and coworkers to get help if needed

Reaching out to a loved one or trusted friend about how you’re feeling can be an important first step in the right direction.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

FOCUS ON BEING POSITIVE and BE KIND TO YOURSELF.

Hospital

Monday 15th Apr 2024

Seems like I've been in hospital for ages, in reality only since Easter.

Suffering with serious Urological issues for a number of years has inevitabley affected my Mental Health.

Trying to cope with this has been difficult and it wasn't until late last year that I addmitted to my GP that I was struggling. He immediatly diagnosed Mental Heath, emotional and  psychological issues.

I didn't realise what impact these were having on me, and those closest around me..... I suppose I was in denial.

I am slowly learning with how to deal with my 'issues'.

Having a support network around is vitally important, whether that be proffessionals or family, or in my case defiantly both!

I'm lucky, I have a wonderful partner, an amazing daughter, a brilliant step-daughter and my partner's family for support.

Work have been brillant and I have regular 'chats' with my team managers and colleagues.

Friends are vital, very much, so and are often easier to 'unload' off to.

My advice is simple:

Seeking counseling, educating yourself about your condition. Seek help to re-gain self-esteem and overcome destructive self-judgment.

DON'T ISOLATE YOURSELF.

If you have a mental illness, you may be reluctant to tell anyone about it. Talking to family and friends DOES help and finally:

FOCUS ON POSITIVITY & BE KIND TO YOURSELF.

Thank you.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Wednesday 3rd Apr 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
