Thanks to you all, great things will be done. I am so impressed and grateful for the generousity I have whitnessed. This amazing world benefits from your existance...and that fact gives me pause, and comfort. I hope I am afforded this opportunity next year...
How do you thank your wife? For her constant support, her patience, her generousity and her kindness...for a lifetime committment, for all of the small daily miracles and some bloody great big ones too (have you seen where babies come from)...how does one convey one's deepest gratitude? The only way I can think of is to repay one kindness with another, to offer support with support, to become a force for good in eachother's lives and to say, thank you, as much and as often as you need to. To have a very long memory of the good and a very short one of the bad, and to keep saying thank you. Thank you, my Love, for your support through this endeavour, for your help and for your Faceblog and Twisler accounts. Thank you, thank you, thank you....
Well...the weather sure took a turn for the worst. Luckily, the generousity continues. Thank you to The Merit Group Insurance Brokers for your very generous donation to the DGR. I was very pleasantly suprised to find your donation and more than happy to match it.
I'm looking forward to meeting all of my fellow riders and breaking bread with the suited and booted. I'm praying for good weather, but will don my best and ride with rest regardless. All the best to everyone contributing to this effort, riders, organizers, sponsors and donors alike. You are all excellent and admirable in your own right and for your own reasons. Well done you!
What can be done in 9 days? Let's see. This week I am mindful of my Brother-in-Law, who's daily challenges I can scarce imagine but to who's family I am eternally grateful.
Thank you to all who have donated and supported DGR in the past few days. You have no idea who you are helping, but you give regardless. You are all of most excellent character and smart attire.
Trevor is dedicated to raising money and supporting the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. Graham has recently lost his job and just doesn't have anything extra to give. Trevor is a driven individual...I've tried to reason with him but he refuses to listen. Graham is starting to slur his words which is making it difficult for him to plead with Trevor and Trevor just got a fresh battery...I believe that Trevor will accept donations made on Graham's behalf...please help to save Graham before he disappears into a cloud of nipple smoke.
P.S. I am still matching all the donations until the day of the ride. A huge thank you and my humble gratitude to my most generous friends. You are all excellent individuals.
A Gentleman knows what to do when this happens; and he does it.
Thank you Bulls Eye London for your generous support. Scott and his distinguished team are more than able to look after a Gentleman's and a Gentlelady's sporting needs. I don't shop, but when I do...it's at Bulls Eye London.
There are just shy of 3 weeks left until the ride. It's time to take off the jacket, unclip the cuff links and roll up the french cuffed shirt sleeves. It's time to get to work to achieve at least my donation goal of $10 000. To that end...I will match all of the donations I receive from now until the ride. If you like me, please give anything you can afford and I will happily match it. If you hate me...give vindictively, hurt me with your generousity...this is your chance to get me back AND to help a great cause with your spite! That's like, crazy perfect!
Well, the hot steamy summer has just taken a turn toward fall. Riding today was more character building than recreating, more damp than dapper and I would have given anything for a sliver of sun. I just pretended I was back home in Manchester enjoying an English summer on a great British motorcycle and the joy returned...
If you are on the fence...loose those white knuckles and tight grasping fingertips...let go and allow yourself gently and safely to the ground, open to giving generously for those who need you now, and for those yet blissfully unaware of the rough patch ahead. Impress yourself with your own generosity. Thank you in advance you classy classy humanbean, Jules
A huge thank you to those excellent individuals that loosed their wallets, turned out their pockets and hearts to give today. Your generousity is appreciated beyond words. An amazingly hot humid sticky and wonderful summer day today. A riding day not to be missed. Another day and evening to count in the close to perfect column.
A gentleman stands up. He is humble, polite and yes he holds the door...for everyone. He makes an effort to improve the lives of others and in so doing, he improves his own. A gentleman's first priority is his family regardless of what he must give up or postpone. He gratefully accepts what is left. A gentleman keeps the pendulum in the middle. He walks his dogs and if he does not, he throws the ball until the dogs have had enough.
A gentleman should have fished and know how to make a fish into food. He should know how to shoot. He should not be affraid. A gentleman should respect nature and respect his nature. He should be able to make at least one thing well. He should share his knowledge with the next generation but more importantly he should share his mistakes and the mistakes of the people of his time. A gentleman should have a long memory and know nothing for certain.
A Gentleman accepts change and is gentle with humanity as non of us have done this before.
Today, as on most days, I am grateful for many things. I have learned a little, I have shared a little. I have had and will continue to have my share of challenges. When the scales seem weighted too heavily with burden, I don't have to look too hard to see that my blessings far outweigh the difficulties. Thank you, thank you, thank you to those fine individuals who have chosen to support the DGR so far. I will ride proudly and in style knowing that there exist such Gentlefolk of quality prepared to stand up and be counted, in support of this most noble cause. Cheers to you all!
On Sunday the 30th of September, I will don my finest attire with my fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health. But before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I need you to donate what you can for this meaningful cause and help me reach my goal.
For your uncles, your brothers, your fathers and friends. Donate what you can, for their lives need not end.
