Fund raising ends for DGR on Sunday June 6, (you can still donate if you would like, IT IS a good cause.) Just click the Donate button.
But I thought I should let you know what you helped me do.
You donated $8347.00
125 of you donated.
The simple math tells you that this was a "people" fund raiser. This means you in your individual participation truly had an impact.
Because of you I am 20th globally for fundraising. (hanging on by the skin of my teeth, but if some one raises more, isn't that wonderful!!)
You even helped me raise more money than any other Royal Enfield rider across the globe!
This belongs to you all. For 6-ish weeks you have put up with emails, posts, pictures; if you lost your sense of humor, you did not share it with me.
So to all the Gentlefolk that responded so well, you have my gratitude. You have helped fund a scientist to conduct at least part of a study, or a program where men can talk without fear and survive the day.
No matter how much you donated, someone's uncle, brother, father, son, cousin, grandfather, and all those men and women who love them now stand a better chance at longer and happier lives.
My gratitude pales by comparison to that.
My sister pointing to my father's name on a wall for people who worked on the Apollo missions and put men on the moon. Both were taken by cancer.
Cancer has taken 5 of my immediate family members, one is battling it. Cancer, and suicide, have taken too many of the men with whom I served.
I have tried to send an email, messenger, LinkedIn mail, Facebook, and Instagram mail, to every person I know or have met. I may have missed you, or worse, I sent you multiple requests. I must apologize.
In 2018, 359,000 men died form prostate cancer. A little over 500,000 men die by suicide each year.
It seems silly that a group of people getting dressed up and riding motorcycles and asking people to “sponsor” them will have any effect, but over the last 10 years, 29 million dollars has been raised, over 2 million this year so far.
If I have missed you, I am sorry. If I have insulted you with the continuing requests, I apologize. This is important and I am going to ask again.
Please sponsor me in the fight against prostate cancer and men’s mental health on The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on Sunday 23, May 2021 by donating – whatever you can.

No name or suggetion of who he was, just a private and good man with "it is-too-hard-to-say-the-name cancer and it is going to kill me any way."
Son, father, brother, and warrior gone too soon and for no good damn reason.
Semper Fi my friend.
They are few, this type of Marine. Parachutists, pilots, naval officers, communicators, and artillerymen who are trained in smal unit operations and formed in to small teams that embed with the special operations forces of our allies and US units to "provide access to offensive capabilities they do not possess organically."
Relatively unknown, I once heard a Marine say "we didn't think you were real and were just something made up to scare people," they have, in the tiny numbers changed the battle space.
Yesterday we lost one of the best. Taken by glioblastoma, in less then ten weeks from diagnosis to his passing yesterday, we have lost a good man.
I will miss you sir, but maybe not for too long. If the hymn is true, "If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines," I shall see you again.
Since last year, three more friends have been diagnosed with cancer. I will be riding this year thinking of them and my family members, five in all that have, or have already succumbed to, this scourge.
Though the ride in Raleigh is considered Solo, it is my hope that we are able to connect with some others and share this task.
On Sunday the 23rd of May, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.
Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
Thanks for the helmet
