    Here we go again!  The past couple years I have been preoccupied and late in signing up, but this year I was the very first, even holding the highest fundraising position with only $10.00 for two days.  Truthfully, being on the fundraising podium is unimportant to me; once I reach the $250.00 goal to earn my patch I encourage supporters who want to contribute to donate to members of the team who are short of reaching their fundraising goals.  

     Karen, Stacy & I again plan on volunteering to help Brian Curran with planning, organizing or whatever else needs to be done to help lessen the burden on him.  Brian founded the Rhinebeck ride, and for seven years has coordinated and evolved it into the smooth running and enormously successful event that it has become.  Last year the Rhinebeck ride, possibly because of its great route, not only boasted an impressive fundraising total of over $35,000.00 but also a huge turnout of supporters and over 130 dapper riders, some even hailing from other states.

    I have also decided, after feedback from patrons, to once again reinstate "Team Ed's Service" to honor and ride in remembrance of the man who fueled most of our passions to ride.  He liked the DGR and, as with all the rides that rode out of his shop, he was proud to see the group representing his shop participate in events.  Anyone who would like to join the team is welcome to do so.  Joining us will have no effect on you other than any fundraising you do, while being credited to you, also adds to a cumulative total for the team.

    The uncontrollable yet most crucial variable for a successful ride is the weather, so let's pray for a beautiful day and a safe but spirited ride.
