Why We Ride

He was a mentor, role model, teacher and coach. But mostly, he was just Dad. He didn't always agree with everything I did (motorcycling nearing the top of that list), but I always knew he had my back no matter what. When I rode in my first DGR 7 years ago, it was to honor him being declared "cancer free" - the first time. The five rides since have been quite the mixed bag with the ongoing impact of COVID. But this year, I ride for the second time in his memory, having lost him in 2022 just after that year's ride.

His passing felt very sudden and unexpected; he was playing golf just a month earlier. But in reality, we had ten years with him after his diagnosis, which was a gift not everyone gets. We owe that to early detection and aggressive treatment. 

So that's why I ride. To help The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride and Movember continue to raise awareness and support men battling prostate and testicular cancer and mental health issues. Please join me in supporting this very worthy cause.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Monday 1st Apr 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
