a massive thank you to everyone who has donated. I set a realistic target but to be honest, having never fund raised before, didn't know if I'd reach it. Now we have and Evelyn and I have £455 between us and at least another £120 pledged on sponsor forms yet to be entered on the page. So to all my friends, family, ex-forces colleagues and current work mates I must say thank you.
We have changed our ride from Manchester to Cambridge in order for my mum, who has done some great fund raising, to attend. She wants to see us off which is so great. The hotel is booked, 1.5 miles from the starting point in the science park, our outfits are almost ready and the bike is due a nice clean and polish.
i know I sound like a stuck record, but the response to this has been amazing, I expected to raise £100, but set a goal of £400 for me to shave off my beloved beard. It looks like that line will be crossed. So a big thank you to everyone who has supported us.
i will make sure that plenty of pictures get taken and posted on Facebook and here.
it is twice as much as I expected and half as much as I am aiming for!!!
So so many thanks to everyone who has contributed so far!!
I've got a few people to thank for getting my fund raising underway, helping me kit myself over the years and also provide the motorbike I will use for the DGR.
A big thank you to the guys at Balderstons who have supported me despite me going over to the dark side and doing the ride on my Bonneville rather than a BMW, it would have been easy to turn up their nose and not help as I wasn't riding the beemer, but they have shown great support.
For supplying the Bonnie and helping to get it kitted out just as I wanted, and for helping in the difficult job of convincing my wife why it is OK to have two bikes in the garage; Webbs of Lincoln; a great Triumph dealer.
And for supplying my riding riding gear ever since I decided to get back into biking, and being a great place to visit and try on the latest helmets and boots, Sportsbikeshop in Boston UK. I hear they are a great online stockist and I am lucky enough to live nearby and can pop into their excellent showroom and try on gear for both myself and Evelyn.
And a big shout out to everyone at Royal Mail who have donated so much, so quickly, the best people to work for and to work with.
Dropped my RT into Balderstons in Peterborough for a service yesterday. Had a go on the lovely Urban GS. Would make a great DGR bike.
briliant response so far, When I first decided to do DGR I was hoping for £100, I've never raised more than that before! But now I we are on our way to the £200 mark!! Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far.
My new Triumph Bonneville T120 has finally arrived, ordered it three months ago and it was sat at Webbs Triumph in Lincoln for a month before delivered. Must say it looks absolutely stunning. it has had louder US Spec pipes added and a fly screen and engine bars but it is definitely a looker.
I had planned to do the DGR for several months, i had wanted to do something for charity this year anyway. and the triumph lends itself to the DGR so well, so it was always going to be this ride for me.
i have set set a modest target for fundraising and the wife and I are already looking around for suitable attire.
The confirmation of my sponsor page arrived a few days ago and now it is time to start pestering my friends, work colleagues and family, roll on September 24th.
On Sunday the 24th of September, I will don my finest attire with my fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health. But before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I need you to donate what you can for this meaningful cause and help me reach my goal.
For your uncles, your brothers, your fathers and friends. Donate what you can, for their lives need not end.
Thank you for all the donations thus far!
Family, friends and other fundraising activity
Don’t fall off you daft bugger ????
Good luck. It's about time we saw what you've been hiding all these years!!!
Have fun, enjoy the camaraderie and take some good pics.
Go for it Chewie; I can only take the blame for taking you out on the back of the CBR all those years ago at Laarbruch!
Keep up the good work Chewie/Evelyn, great Charity!

Good Luck Mark and Evelyn - a worthwhile charity.
Good luck all the best
Cash donation - many thanks Mike
Good Luck - don't scratch it!
Good luck to you both!
Well done for fundraising for a great cause!
In truth I am reluctantly sponsoring you as a motorcycle is something you'd enjoy. Sponsorship should be about rewarding hardship not jollies. Thank you
A very worthy cause - good luck Mark.
Enjoy every second of it and good luck!
