Good news!

Wednesday 1st

Good news! Although technically Bobbie the Bobber was totaled, there was no significant damage to the motor, wheels, or frame. So, with a few moderate repairs and some spit and polish, she’ll be back on the road again soon! Hopefully in time for next year’s DGR.

In the meantime, James has taken the plunge and acquired a new ride to finish the tour and participate in this year's DGR.

Please welcome Neville to the family!

Neville is a 2024 T120 purchased from Bell County Motoworks in Temple, TX. Thanks to Jerry, Caitlin, and the rest of the crew for helping to get our team back on the road!

Well that didn't go as planned

Saturday 30th

March 28th started out beautifully… blue skies, green fields, and plenty of sunshine. We began our ride with high hopes, planning to make 5 stops on the MGTOT and talk to folks about the DGR along the way.

All was going well, as we traveled to our first stop in Teague, TX (pronounced “Tig” by the locals). The Cardo Edge communication system we purchased last year was finally working for us, so we were able to enjoy some witty repartee as we sped along the highway. The sun was warm, the air was cool, the grass was green, and the bluebonnets were prominently on display.

Our first destination was the majestic Teague Hotel. “Majestic” may be a bit of an overstatement, but it’s a very interesting place, nonetheless. And as we soon learned from a local shopkeeper, it was set to be the preferred locale to watch the eclipse for many a biker on April 8th.

Having fulfilled our photographic and fundraising requirements, we made our way southward to our second destination, the Texas Sidecar Company, whose owner, Kent Silk, would be the host of the aforementioned eclipse watching festivities.

When we arrived, we were greeted with Texas sized hospitality and given a tour of the factory. The staff and owners were as friendly as they could be, and we enjoyed a lengthy conversation about all things sidecar related.

But soon it was time to leave and head toward our next destination. It was here that our perfect day came to an end. Just after leaving the community of Donie, James took a wrong turn and had to double back. Just as he had caught up with Montie, disaster struck. Trying to avoid a collision, James swung wide in a deceptively sharp curve and ended up in the ditch after narrowly avoiding a second collision with a signpost.

Fortunately, James survived the ordeal relatively unscathed, but sadly, his Bobber did not. Superficial damage hopefully, but at the time of this post, the verdict is unclear.

The team is fractured, the tour is in danger, and all fundraising activities have come to a screeching halt. Will the team adapt and overcome? Can the Bobber be repaired? Only time will tell…

Kick starting another riding season – MGTOT and lost caps

Saturday 30th

The team was on the road again March 12th with our first ride of the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas - https://motorcyclegrandtouroftexas.com!

We completed 5 stops, not necessarily in the order we originally planned, but it was a great time, nonetheless.

The only downside was that team member James lost his favorite Triumph cap somewhere near the geographic center of Texas. Remember to buckle down those saddle bags next time, buddy!

Fundraising efforts were minimal as these particular tour stops didn’t include any (open) local businesses we could engage with.

Still, the ride is the thing, and ride we did! From Burnet to Goldthwaite, Brady and Mason. Looking forward to more rides to come!

Join our team as we ride for The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride!

Tuesday 26th On Sunday the 19st of May 2024, we are teaming up to ride in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before we press our tweed and polish our boots, we are asking you to join us in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
