My Father

My father recently underwent prostate surgery, more specifically a radical prostatectomy, the entire removal of the prostate gland. 
 
While I had assumed he would welcome the opportunity to pee into a bag and flirt with nurses, it's actually been a rather stressful time for the legend, and apparently there IS a certain number of times you can press the call button before they stop coming.
 
Boys will be boys, but real men seize every chance to create memories with their families, instil hard-earned wisdom, and improve their communities. My father strives to do these things, and for the men in your life pursuing the same, early detection can be the difference between a lifelong impact and an early grave.
 
For the mechanically-minded, I will be doing this ride on a 1995 Kawasaki Estrella, an obscure 250cc bike that is now only available in Japan, but was sold somewhat successfully in Germany too.
 
I've no idea why a Japanese company wanted to name a bike after the Spanish word for 'Star' and hit the German market, but me and 20 of the finest BHP money can buy will be uniting next Sunday to honour my father, give cancer the finger, and promote the wellbeing of all men.

A Ride for My Father - Sunday 18th May 2025

On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.

Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that.

So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
