A week to go

Things are getting real. Sunday 18 May we ride dapper to raise money for research into Prostate Cancer, and Men's Mental Health. THis cause is very close to my heart, I have many friends who have been touched by one or both of these issues. I would love to hit my target of $2000, it's within sight.

I have checked Bella over and she's ready to go. My outfit is sorted, all I have to do is polish my boots until I can see my face in them and I'm ready to lead our riders around Hamilton, demonstrating our committment to improving the lives of men in New Zealand, and all those close to them.

Hope to see people out and about next Sunday, give us a wave if you see us, we will wave back.

Less than a month to go.

With just under a month until we Ride Dapper we are all getting ourselves prepared for the big day.

The route is set, and checked, and registrations are rolling in. We are all preparing our classic steeds for the day, ratting through our wardrobes for the most dapper clothes that we can find, and trying to improve our fundraising efforts to support Movember in research into Prostate Cancer and Men's Mental Health in New Zealand.

I am close to my initial target, but I have a stretch goal of about $1700 (~$US 1000) that would get me a further small reward from HQ.

So, wouldn't it be great if I could reach that number? Or even make my total amount raised over all my rides to $6000.

Seven weeks to go.

With 47 days to go until we again ride dapper for men's mental health and prostate cancer research, I find myself thinking about how important those two areas are. This research benefits more than men; it benefits everyone as we are all sons, brothers, uncles, nephews, cousins, husbands, dads, granddads and more. We all have lots of very important people in our lives who are impacted when our health is compromised and as men we are very poor, generally, in talking about what is troubling us. 

This year so far there are 919 rides registered around the world in 104 countries. As of right now there are 25,626 riders registered so as dapper riders we can have a real impact on helping global research into men's mental health and prostate cancer.

A big thank you to those who have donated through me already, please encourage your friends, family, work colleagues and everyone you know to do the same.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm again hosting (with 3 fellow hosts) The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Hamilton with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
