Almost 2 weeks post-op and I'm feeling good! Cleaning and polishing the bike this evening and being a little sad that the local ride isn't a group thing like in the past.
The cancer... it's stage 1, but fortunately only stage 1. I'm ready for BCG treatments to help turn my body's immune system against the cancer. Hopefully it'll work and I can breath easy for some time to come!
This year, it's personal. On April 29th, I had a tumor removed from my bladder. Bladder cancer affects men 3:1 more than women. I was lucky my tumor decided to bleed and let me know it was there. Stage 0 cancer is still cancer and I'll be forever having checks and treatments for the rest of my life. I hope with attention and funding, we'll have more effective treatments and more importantly, better methods of early detection!
On Sunday the 23rd of May, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.
Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
Good luck, Dave.
Good luck Dave!
