I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

On Sunday 18th May 2025, I’ll be suiting up — in actual tweed — to take part in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. I’ll be joining thousands of dapper riders across the globe, all looking like time-travelling barbershop quartets on motorcycles — and all raising funds and awareness for Movember, supporting men’s mental health and prostate cancer.

I’ll be riding in style, channelling my inner 1950s detective / eccentric geography teacher on a Royal Enfield Calsic Reborn. And yes — I do have the beard and moustache to match. In fact, I’ve got enough facial hair to smuggle snacks in.

Unfortunately, this seems to come at a cost… because while the beard grows stronger by the day, the hair on top of my head has taken early retirement. Some say it’s genetics. I say my scalp just didn’t want to compete with my chin.

But in all seriousness: men are dying, on average, six years earlier than women, and not for epic, action-movie reasons. We’re talking preventable illnesses, mental health issues, and a general reluctance to see a doctor unless something is literally on fire.

So I’m not just doing this for the dapper photo ops (though let’s be honest, they help). I’m doing it because too many men are suffering in silence — and that needs to change.

Before I saddle up, wax my already-proud moustache, and risk heatstroke in a three-piece suit, I need your support.
