After the ride

Well that was a great experience , got to ride my beloved Vespa , meet lots of like minded people and raise £773 so far for two great charities . All donations welcomed and I can't thank you enough , your all saving lives . Got waved off by the family and waved back in at the end of a fantastic day , looking forward to next year .

Wow , really humbled by the amount of donations and generosity of people , thank you all so much , I was just saying to my son Cameron that I know it was tough for them too while I was going through treatment and recovering , but I'm doing this in the hope that I can help give another man back to his children , thanks again all ...... your helping to change lives 

My cancer journey

Reflecting
On the 26th February 2024 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 57 .
On May 20th 2024 I had a robotic prostectamy at Northampton hospital where it was removed , I’ve spent since then recovering and will be eternally grateful to our NHS.
Did I tell you I stubbed my toe ?
There are no symptoms , no pain , no discomfort etc .
If you’re male and over 50 or you know someone that is then a PSA test via your GP might just save your life , it saved mine .
I had a blood test to rule out arthritis after stubbing my toe , the pain wouldn’t go away , whilst at the doctors I asked if they could check my PSA which they did , total chance .
There are particular events during this journey which I would not like to experience again , one that I live with every day is the destroyed look on my children’s faces as I told them what I was facing , I chose to tell them towards the end of all of the tests , biopsy , MRI , bone scan each of which had a painful wait for results all the time hoping for a positive outcome that never came .
But there is positive news , the cancer was organ confined and hadn’t spread to my bones and so I am effectively cured of cancer .
Cancer doesn’t care , you can be the King of England or an Olympic cyclist or just a tired old cop , so I say again get a test and encourage those male loved ones around you over 50 to do the same , you might just save their life .

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Thursday 1st May 2025 On Sunday the 18th of May 2025, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
