My reason for riding in the DGR

My family experienced a significant loss due to poor mental health a few years ago. We lost my father in law to suicide just before Christmas in 2021. All of his family and friends were left with a lot of questions that unfortunatly we will never have any answers to and a huge hole in our lives.

Tommy was the best kind of father in law you could want and was always there to help us with anything he could. He was always the life and soul of the party and would play a round of golf with you at the drop of a hat. He is extremely missed.

Alcoholism, drug addiction and gambling addiction have also been present in my life, all of which have huge impacts on health and mental health. The common denominator is that it has been all males who I have known to suffer from these problems.

Ironicly, I also find it extremely difficult to share my feelings and I don't like to say anything if I'm not feeling OK.

I hope that raising awareness with these issues helps highlight how important it can be to talk.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Wednesday 27th Mar 2024 On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
