With time running out some awesome progress has been made and short of a few small parts to come in the post, we are almost there! Should have a week to fettle and make sure it's up and running well enough for the ride!
It's awesome to look back at where this bike was just one month ago. Lots of late nights have got it this far and it is oh so close now, but I am feeling confident that the Matchless will make the DGR!
HUGE thanks to all those who have supported my fundraising so far, without the support I've received via your donations and kind words I probably would have thrown in the towel weeks ago. A few late nights remain, but let's go!
Progress continues, and progress halts. Tis the cycle of old motorcycles!
I got Rims back from chrome and paint and was ready to start assembling the wheels, only to discover I was a little too careless in ordering spokes and have thicker gauge spokes than original, but more annoyingly than that, the nipples are just too big for the holes!
I didn't want to drill out the rims for fear of damaging the fresh chrome and paint just to retain big nipples, so have ordered smaller ones to suit the holes better...
I don't think I've spoken this much about nipple sizes in some time!
Meanwhile my engine builder has hinted that he will be finished in time which is amazing news! However I am not going to get too excited just yet and have been slapping the single together at an accellerated rate to have it on the ready as a backup by borrowing a few bits from the twin, best to be sure!
In anticipation of getting the wheel rims back from paint this week I have started spoking the hubs, they look brilliant! I can't wait to get the rims and tyres fitted up as they will look spectacular!
In other news, the fundraising has now ticked over a third of the way to the target in under a week. Work will match my fundraising up to $1000 so I'm hoping to hit that target and have it doubled for this years efforts!
Everything is progressing well, the engine is still the only question mark, but will hopefully be sorted soon as the last part I need is due to arrive any day now.
Thank you to all those who have donated to date, don't hesitate, donate now, even if just a few dollars, every bit helps!
On Sunday the 29th of September, I will don my finest attire with my fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health. But before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I need you to donate what you can for this meaningful cause and help me reach my goal.
For your uncles, your brothers, your fathers and friends. Donate what you can, for their lives need not end.
Well done on making a difference in our community
