Why do we love motorcycles so much?

Friday 3rd May 2024

As lovers of motorcycles and the open road, non-riders often down play the passion we have for our machines, and how we don't treat them as inanimate objects, but as living and breathing beings, that we often give names. I refer to my motorcycle as a hybrid, half man half machine, wouldn't work without me.
The biggest issue being overlooked, is the great impact our bikes have on our mental health. In study conducted by UCLA in 2019, where a rider had to use a skull cap with electrodes. Found some rather interesting scientific evidence that motorcycles indeed make you happier.

  • Riding a motorcycle decreased hormonal biomarkers of stress by 28%
  • On average, riding a motorcycle for 20 minutes increased participants' heart rates by 11 percent and adrenaline levels by 27 percent—similar to light exercise
  • Sensory focus was enhanced while riding a motorcycle versus driving a car, an effect also observed in experienced meditators vs non-meditators
  • Changes in study participants' brain activity while riding suggested an increase in alertness similar to drinking a cup of coffee.

on May 19th. I'll be riding along side some of the most distinguished, ladies and gentlemen in my city, to support a great cause, for a great foundation. Thanks to whomever made the donation to my name, I sincerely appreciate it, all donations go directly to the Movember Foundation. Feel free to donate to any other rider as well.
if you have a motorcycle, consider joining the DGR family for a future ride.

I'm Riding for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Wednesday 3rd Apr 2024

On Sunday the 19th of May 2024, I'm riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives
